Milwaukee Tool Challenge
2019
Milwaukee Tool pitched a variety of different challenges based on company needs to a few of the different LAUNCH strands. Based on what prompt we were the most interested in we were placed into groups accordingly. My team and I were second the artificial intelligence and human resources. The first group was working on a prototype AI that could search for passive candidates to filter their credentials using an AI or a learning machine and give HR a list of potential candidates for the company. My team worked on how do we attract the passive candidates filtered through the AI to Milwaukee Tool from their current job. We did a lot of research about passive vs active, how different generation or genders affect our problem, and different ways companies are bringing in employees. Our group decided that the most important factor to attract passive candidates were benefits. I researched how companies are using their unique benefits to attract passive candidates and how we can apply some of these benefits to Milwaukee Tool. Two of our group members created a website to show our research and findings to further help our presentation. At the end of our project, we presented our problem and solution three different times to a different panel of judges each time. Here we were judged on our performance and our work. Overall it was a great experience that I would not have had in a normal classroom.
